Quiche is widely considered a French dish but it infact originated in Germany. In German Kuchen means cake and thats how the word Quiche originated. Wherever it originated, it is now popular in several countries as an elegant meal that is not only delicious but simple to cook.

After the second world war, the dish became popular in UK, and in the USA in the fifties. Originally it was mostly a vegetarian recipe. Refinements to the recipe now feature a variety of ingredients including meat like bacon, ham, or shellfish.

INGREDIENTS
1 round pie crust unsweetened
Two cups of broccoli florets
One onion that is scraped and chopped
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 cup of frayed cheese
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups of whipping cream
A pinch of powdered nutmeg
Salt and Pepper

DIRECTIONS
Set off by making the crust for the purpose of blind baking. Be sure to fit this crust to a tart pan of ten inches and after that pierce through this with fork tines at roughly 20 places. Then lay this pan in a freezer for close to 20 min whilst you preheat the oven up to 400?F.(When you rest the crust in a freezer, it inhibits it from bubbling or slipping during baking)

After that you can take the crust and place it directly in to your hot oven cooking it for about 12 minutes till the time it turns into a nice golden color. Take this away from the oven and let it cool for approximately ten minutes. You can then turn your oven down to about 375?F.

Then the broccoli could be steamed for three minutes using a microwave. Ensure it is just about a little tender. Keep a watch and see that it is not too steamed as you might lose the taste of the vegetable.

Preheat the olive oil on a non-stick small skillet at an average flame. Then add the onion sliced to cook, stir it occasionally to make certain the onion is soft enough and it could take roughly 5 minutes or a bit more.

Spread the onions and the steamed broccoli evenly on to the bottom portion of the cooled crust. Add a little cheese on the top. Take another bowl, whisk the whipped cream, eggs, nutmeg and the pinch of pepper and salt together till the time it is mixed well. Pour this mixture on top of the vegetables and cheese. Place the pan in to the oven and bake it until it is done for about forty minutes. Your meal is set to serve up.
